This historic hillside village, a ancient hillside village in southern Spain, approximately a short drive from Granada, is the breathtaking backdrop for this painting holiday. Artists of all abilities – even beginners – will learn how to design and produce non-representational pieces. A portion of the time will be spent outdoors, working on guided exercises en plein air. These sketches and watercolour studies will then be developed in the workspace, with guests creating multiple interpretive scenes in acrylics to be displayed in the local community. The group has sole use of the venue, which is set around an central patio and has a roof terrace with panoramic vistas over the countryside. The fee includes five days of art instruction; all meals; and an outing to the local castle and additional points of interest.

This Mediterranean culinary holiday, set on a riverside villa in the central Algarve, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of renowned chefs. Guests will learn to produce meze spreads, take part in a falafel-making workshop, perfect brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses including a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. The schedule includes visits to the village market and a nearby winery to sample Portuguese wines, along with leisure time for strolls by the nearby river, to unwind on the deck or swim in the infinity pool. The schedule includes voice exercises, breath control techniques, performance tips and a final evening concert. The retreat is based at a rural hotel with views of the bay. Author and tutor an experienced instructor leads the daily workshops on this authors' getaway. He explores everything from story structure, character development, setting and suspense, to submitting work to agents. The holiday is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the foot of the White mountains – 10 one- and two-bedroom cottages surround a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to share).
