Plane Transporting US Defense Secretary Required to Touch Down in UK Due to Fracture in Windshield
An aircraft transporting the US defense secretary was required to make an emergency landing in the Britain on Wednesday following a fracture was identified in the plane's windshield, according to an announcement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.
"The jet touched down based on standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, such as Pete Hegseth, is secure," a press officer said in a social media post.
He was traveling back from a short visit to Brussels when the incident occurred.
This incident is not the first time that a US military aircraft ferrying a top government figure has encountered equipment failures.
Earlier this year, a United States Air Force aircraft transporting the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was compelled to return to Washington after experiencing a mechanical fault.
