The Miami Heat put up 86 opening half points against the Grizzlies

The Heat secured a decisive 146-114 victory over the Grizzlies in their initial basketball game since guard Terry Rozier was arrested for suspected unlawful gambling.

Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also arrested as part of a sweeping federal investigation into illegal gambling. Both men deny the allegations.

However, the Heat were focused as they put up eighty-six opening half points to lead Memphis by thirty-nine after two quarters, the biggest halftime lead in the franchise's 37-year history.

Adebayo led the way with twenty-four points and later stated Terry had the team's full backing.

"We stand behind him. Complete backing," Adebayo said. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother ultimately."

Heat coach Spoelstra added: "Rozier is somebody who is important to all of us. He's had a real positive impact on our locker room.

"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he goes through this."

Portland additionally won their first game since the arrests, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the squad to a convincing 139 to 119 victory against the Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Billups and how he coached," Tiago remarked. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' by Arrests

Speaking about the detentions for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Silver said he was "very upset" by the incidents of the past few days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and its fans than the integrity of the competition," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

The commissioner further mentioned an league probe into Rozier's actions in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he played for the Charlotte Hornets against the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the authorities and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We then looked into the matter and were very transparent about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the league office can't do.

"Therefore, we've been working with them from that point. And, of course, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"Moreover two and a half years later, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."

Greek player Antetokounmpo additionally had a strong performance with thirty-one points, twenty boards and 7 assists in the Bucks' 122-116 win at the Toronto Raptors.

Rockets were beaten 115 to 111 by the Detroit Pistons despite 37 scores from Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had twenty-nine scores, 11 rebounds and nine blocks in the Spurs' overtime win against the New Orleans.
