19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
The player's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five games to go ahead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.
The opponent rescued four early chances in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
